We are asking students from PK- 5th grade to design a new downstream friend for Gurgle and show how pollution impacts that animal. The animal has to live around Memphis waterbodies and students must identify that waterbody. See our watersheds page for help! Deadline is Friday March 8, 2024! See our rules below for more details!

Art will be judged on creative content, contrast, detail, factual content, and legibility. See our help sheet here about how to make a more successful entry! Students, please remember to be mindful of copyright. As an example- please don’t draw a name brand soda or chip bag…just draw a container and write ‘soda’ or ‘chips’. And don’t copy some else’s photo or drawing.

Every FINISHED entry (follow the rules and finish shading or coloring your drawing) will receive an award medal for helping to prevent storm water pollution with their artwork! But there will be 2 winning artists, one for the PK-2nd grade age group and one for the 3rd-5th grade age group. Our two winners will have their art displayed on a billboard, printed in magazines, and can be featured in other upcoming advertisements! Their downstream friend can also be featured in our upcoming Gurgle comic strip!
